Summary draft 2

Sai in "Drones May Become ‘The Next Big Thing’ In Healthcare Delivery"(2022) explains the uses and impact drones have in the healthcare industry. Sai mentioned that drones have the potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery by providing access to hard-to-reach patients, and delivering healthcare supplies and goods. Drones have also been used for telehealth and virtual care, delivering Covid-19 vaccines, and delivering automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to save out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. Recently, a study conducted by the European Heart Journal(2021), proved that drones were able to provide time-saving benefits in emergency situations, with a successful delivery rate of 92%. In another finding from Everdrone AB(2022), where an autonomous drone also helped save the life of a man who experienced an OHCA by delivering an AED in just over three minutes. With a promising future drones have, large retailers such as Amazon have already begun testing and using drone technology for retail needs, which will lower the costs of drone technology and make it more accessible for healthcare organizations. With continued development, drones will have the potential to provide significant value in timely healthcare delivery and measurable healthcare outcomes.

Summary draft(1)

Sai in “Drones May Become ‘The Next Big Thing’ In Healthcare Delivery” (2022) explains the uses and impact drones have in the healthcare industry.

One of the most significant clinical care applications is using drones for telehealth and virtual care. This application allows for expanding care to otherwise hard-to-reach patients and potentially resolving the crucial access-to-care issues plaguing modern-day healthcare. Drones are also being used worldwide for the delivery of healthcare supplies and goods, such as Covid-19 vaccines. A study conducted by the European Heart Journal(2021) also found that drones can successfully deliver Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to help save out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients with a successful AED delivery rate of 92%.

The widespread use of drones by large retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and 7-Eleven promises to progress further on drone technology and applications, lower costs for healthcare organizations and rely upon drones as a tool for supply chain and logistics needs to grow the industry overall. Suppose innovators continue to develop this technology in a safe, secure, scalable, and efficient manner. In that case, there will be a significant potential value that drones can deliver, especially regarding timely healthcare delivery and measurable healthcare outcomes.

My self introduction email (1a)

Subject: Self-Introduction Letter

Hi Professor Brad Blackstone,

My name is Edwin Goh and I am a first-year mechanical design and manufacturing engineering(MDME) student enrolled in your critical thinking and communicating module. I graduated from temasek polytechnic in 2020 with a diploma in business process and systems engineering, and I decided to pursue a career in engineering because I prefer hands-on work over office work in the business sector.

In my free time, I enjoy participating in various sports such as basketball, swimming, running, and working out in the gym. I also play volleyball competitively for the school team. One of my traits is that I enjoy bringing people together as it brings harmony and happiness to everyone, and I get joy from seeing others enjoy hanging out with one another.

One of my strengths in communication is being able to convey my points clearly and concisely to the other party. I try to be short and precise in my words because I want my point to be heard and to avoid any miscommunication. However, one of my weaknesses is that I may come across as rude and insensitive towards others, even though I did not mean to hurt them. I only wanted to tell them the truth about how I feel in a given situation.

Through this module, I hope to learn how to communicate in a nicer and friendlier tone so that I do not come across as rude. I also want to learn how to construct my sentences in a clearer manner to avoid confusion.

Thank you for your time.

Best Regards, Edwin Goh

We derived that the importance of being competent at work revolves equal weight age between technical competency and communication. As one is able to express their thoughts verbally and work through different points of view and arguments, it would significantly heighten their intellectual empathy. This would in turn create better team players and leaders. Once everyone is able to play different roles and work harmoniously due to seamless communication, it would contribute to constant successful work performance.
